Weaner Camp Head Stockman | Millungera Station | QLD

We are seeking a Weaner Camp Head Stockman for the remainder of the 2026 season at Millungera Station.

This Weaner Camp Head Stockman’s position is well suited to someone that has multiple years’ experience handling cattle and working with stock camps, people management

Millungera Station, 1.5hrs from Julia Creek and 3hrs from Cloncurry, is a massive, historic 342,000-hectare beef cattle property in northwest Queensland, Australia, known for its large herd (around 50,000) and significant water resources from the Flinders and Saxby Rivers.

After operating for over 160 years, it was recently sold by the Acton family in late 2025 to the Hughes family (Georgina Pastoral Co), marking a significant corporate-scale land transaction in Australia's beef industry. 

• Mustering on horseback - excellent horsemanship skills is mandatory for this role.

• Reporting to the station managers regularly

• Leading, training and developing a team of station hands

• Promote a positive, respectful and safe work environment

• Plan and co-ordinate with current management to meet day to day and program goals

• Perform regular young cattle management duties: Yard education, Tailing, Drafting, Branding and Mustering

• Detailed and accurate recording of all stock information

• Ensure workplace standards and policies are followed

• Must be capable of following directions on existing young cattle education policies and have good communication skills to work with both management and the team.

• Excellent working with all livestock in a calm, low stress manner and be driven to continually improve and learn.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, be interested to understand why and how we can do it better

• Ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.

Competent horsemanship skills and experience is essential for this position.
