Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

As a Pen Rider, you’ll be out in the pens every day looking after cattle health and welfare, moving stock, and helping keep the feedlot running smoothly. You’ll be part of the Livestock Crew and report to the Head Stockman.

This is a hands-on role on 10 days on, 4 days off roster. You'll be: 

  • Riding pens daily to check cattle health and wellbeing

  • Picking up early signs of illness and treating cattle as needed

  • Handling cattle on horseback and on foot

  • Moving and processing cattle when required

  • Keeping accurate treatment and stock records

  • Cleaning and maintaining water troughs and pens

  • Following WHS and animal welfare standards

Job Requirements

  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Current Australian driver’s licence

  • Full working rights in Australia

  • Feedlot experience (desirable)

  • Own horse/s (desirable)

  • Cattle handling skills (desirable)

  • Good understanding of cattle behaviour (desirable)
