We're looking for a capable and proactive Assistant Manager to add value to our mixed farming business in the South Burnett, Queensland. This is a full-time role ideal for an experienced applicant with diverse skills across livestock and pasture management, machinery operation and maintenance.

Candidates must have a minimum of 5-10 years of station hand or livestock management experience.

Long-term role: not suitable for holiday makers or short-term employment.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

The Assistant Manager position is a hands-on role that requires excellent organisation skills and regular communication with owners.

We are looking for an applicant who is keen to work closely with us to achieve our goals and make a meaningful contribution to our growing business.

  • Support livestock operations, including joining, calving, weaning, preg-testing, bull-testing, animal health, mustering and trucking.

  • Maintain accurate livestock records and treatment records, in addition to fodder, chemical and fuel inventory management, utilising Agri-Webb.

  • Support cropping operations including preparation, planting, monitoring weeds, and pasture condition.

  • Operate and carry out general mechanical repairs and maintenance on tractors, trucks, spray rig and other farm implements.

  • Maintain water, fences, and infrastructure regularly and to a high standard.

  • Assist with pest management programs as directed.

  • Maintain clean and tidy workshop.

Job Requirements

We are looking for a jack of all trades, with a positive attitude and strong observation and record keeping skills. You must be able to work efficiently both solo and within a small team.

  • Self-motivated and can work efficiently unsupervised

  • Provide own horses and work dogs (no pig dogs please)

  • Provide own tools (some tools will be provided)

  • Experience mustering on horseback and/or bike

  • Livestock management experience with low stress stock handling preferred

  • Mechanically minded and able to troubleshoot issues

  • Experience with driving tractors and GPS

  • Ability to calibrate planter and spray-rig advantageous

  • Welding skills required

  • Fence maintenance and construction skills required

  • Chemical certification desired, or prepared to upskill

  • Open Drivers licence required

  • HR Truck Licence advantageous or prepared to upskill

  • Firearms licence required or prepared to upskill

  • Experience using Tru-Test weigh box and reader (or similar)

  • Experience using Agri-Webb advantageous or prepared to upskill
