We are seeking an experienced and reliable Station Manager or Managing Couple (see requirements below) to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a 120,000 acres cattle station located south west of Boulia, Queensland.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a genuine station lifestyle, with the independence and responsibility that comes with managing a remote cattle property.

The position would suit an experienced older couple looking for a change of lifestyle, as well as a motivated younger couple looking to establish themselves in station management and build a long-term future in the cattle industry.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

Working closely with the owners, the Station Manager will be responsible for the efficient day-to-day running of the property, cattle and station infrastructure.

The role will include:

  • Overall day-to-day management of the cattle station

  • Cattle husbandry, welfare and production

  • Monitoring and maintaining waters, bores and other station infrastructure

  • Fencing, yards, plant and general property maintenance

  • Managing machinery, vehicles and equipment

  • Supervising station staff when required

  • Maintaining accurate station records

  • Ordering supplies as required

  • Ensuring the property is maintained to a high standard

  • Working closely with the owners and providing regular updates

  • Maintaining a safe, productive and positive station environment

Job Requirements

We are looking for someone who is practical, dependable and takes pride in running a well-managed property.

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • Previous cattle station or station management experience

  • Low Stress cattle handling and animal husbandry skills

  • Good knowledge of day-to-day station operations

  • Experience with water infrastructure, fencing and general maintenance

  • Ability to operate and maintain station machinery and equipment

  • Good organisational and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions

  • A strong work ethic and practical approach

  • Commitment to animal welfare and safe work practices

  • Ability to work cooperatively with owners and staff

Experience is important, but attitude, reliability and the ability to look after a property as if it were your own are equally valued.

Managing Couple

We are particularly open to applications from couples, with the role able to be structured around the strengths and experience of both partners.

This could be an ideal opportunity for:
