Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Working Manager to join our team on a cattle breeding property near Koumala, Queensland.

This is a hands-on position suited to an honest, capable and practical cattle operator who can confidently oversee day-to-day property operations while working closely with the owner.

'Tedlands' runs approximately 2,500 to 3,000 head of Droughtmaster and Droughtmaster-cross cattle, supported by an extensive tropical pasture development program.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and participate in day-to-day cattle and property operations

  • Handle and muster cattle using horses and working dogs

  • Maintain high animal welfare standards and use low-stress stock-handling practices

  • Operate and maintain agricultural machinery and property equipment

  • Undertake pasture development and chemical spraying, including spot, boom and mister spraying

  • Complete fencing, welding and general infrastructure maintenance

  • Maintain and repair property water systems

  • Liaise closely with the owner regarding property operations and priorities

  • Work independently while maintaining a high level of honesty, integrity and accountability

Job Requirements

  • Strong cattle handling and livestock management experience

  • Experience mustering on horseback with working dogs

  • Sound knowledge of low-stress stock handling and animal welfare

  • Competency operating and maintaining excavators, telehandlers, trucks, tractors, buggies and quad bikes

  • Experience using tractor GPS systems

  • Chemical spraying experience

  • Practical skills in fencing, welding and water systems

  • A current HC Driver Licence

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • The ability to work effectively with the owner and independently manage daily priorities
