Join the team at Napier Downs Station, on the iconic Gibb River Road, as our new Irrigation Manager.
 
Continuing a legacy dating back to the 1880's, Napier Downs is entering a new and exciting phase. Join us as we develop Stage One of our pivot irrigation development. You'll be joining a small, tight-knit team delivering one of the most remote irrigation projects in the country.

You will be based at Napier Downs Station on the Gibb River Road in the beautiful Kimberley region of WA.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Taking the development from cleared country to a producing irrigated farm

  • Land preparation and soil husbandry, and getting the first crops in the ground

  • Running the cropping program through to hay in the shed

  • Operating and looking after the pivots and the water supply

  • Keeping the plant and infrastructure running, a long way from help

  • Water metering, bore monitoring and the record-keeping that goes with it

  • Leading a small crew and keeping everyone safe

  • Managing the budget and keeping us informed

Job Requirements

  • Hands-on experience preparing country and putting crops in, not just running a farm someone else built

  • Real pivot and irrigation experience

  • You can run the gear: tractors, tillage, seeder, sprayer, hay plant

  • You can fix things. A bit of a MacGyver, the nearest parts counter is a long way off and the wet doesn't care what's on backorder

  • You can work remote, on your own, and make the call without ringing someone

  • You keep good records

  • Manual licence; ChemCert or willing to get it
