Job Description

We are seeking an organised, friendly and hands-on Station Cook / Homestead Help / Gardener to support the smooth day-to-day running of Cungelella Station. This blended role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, working outdoors and preparing hearty, nutritious meals for a small crew.

You will work both independently and alongside the Station Services Coordinator, contributing across cooking, cleaning, gardening and general homestead presentation.

Located between Springsure and Tambo, near Carnarvon National Park, Cungelella Station is a 21,870-hectare backgrounding property that handles approximately 8,000 head of cattle. The station is situated near the Carnarvon National Park, surrounded by rugged sandstone ranges and spectacular outback landscapes—creating a truly unique and picturesque place to live and work.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preparing hearty and nutritious dinners for the station crew - cooking for approx. 6-10 regularly.

  • Maintaining gardens through mowing, whipper snipping, weeding, mulching and pruning around the homestead, living quarters and broader property

  • Keeping living quarters, the recreation room and amenities clean and tidy

  • Changing linen and cleaning guest accommodation as required

  • Maintaining the overall presentation of the homestead and surrounding areas

  • Collecting stores when required

Job Requirements

  • A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to take on a variety of station tasks

  • Experience cooking hearty meals for small groups

  • Sound knowledge of gardening, cleaning, domestic duties and hygiene practices

  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work autonomously with limited direction

  • A positive, team-focused attitude and willingness to work alongside the Station crew

  • An appreciation for the unique lifestyle offered by a remote cattle station

  • A current manual driver licence

A second position is available for a Machinery Operator / Handyman, undertaking varied duties including machinery operation, general station maintenance and the upkeep of waters and infrastructure.
