Mechanic/Maintenance Technician | Wallumba Feedlot | QLD

Wallumba Feedlot values practical skills and seeks a dependable Mechanic/Maintenance Technician who can contribute to a safe and efficient feedlot environment.

This is a hands-on position suited for those passionate about outdoor work, livestock environments, and attention to detail, thriving in a team setting. Experience with pivots is a plus; confidence in fabrication and machinery maintenance is essential. 

With a license to feed 20,000 head, the Wallumba feedlot grain finishes the majority of MDH's cattle. After being purchased in 2001, Wallumba has changed MDH from a grass-finishing operation to a backgrounding operation, with 90 per cent of MDH's cattle grain-finished in the feedlot. Wallumba, in addition to Nangram, has provided significant 'drought proofing' capabilities to the MDH operation, ensuring cattle can be finished even when the northern properties experience a dry season. 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Maintenance on plant and machinery
• Metal fabrication - mechanics and yard repairs
• Contribute to the maintenance and tidiness of the workshop
• Conduct operations following safety procedures and policies
• Maintain accurate records

• Previous mechanical and metal fabrication experience
• Experience in farming/agriculture advantageous
• A strong commitment WH&S procesures and policies
• You are Q-Fever vaccinated or willing to be
• Own transport and driver’s license
• Clean and tidy habits
• Polite and friendly nature
• Willing to lend a hand and gain new experiences
• Willing to work in a team but also individually
• Willing to listen and act on instructions and advice given
• Comfortable with early starts
• Strong initiative
