Mactaggart Pastoral is seeking a motivated Station Hand to join our team on a cattle property in the Duaringa district.

Working closely with the manager and a supportive team, you'll also have the opportunity to work independently and take ownership of your responsibilities. We encourage all team members to contribute ideas, participate in decision-making, and play an active role in achieving goals. Comprehensive on-the-job training, along with opportunities for professional development, will be provided.

This is a varied, hands-on role with responsibilities including property infrastructure maintenance and development, livestock husbandry as well as operating a range of plant and machinery (including grader, dozer, skid steer and excavator).

This 19,500-hectare beef breeding and trading property is located 43kms north of Duaringa. The property is a mix of land types including brigalow, river country, rosewood ridges and softwood scrub.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Vehicle and machinery repairs and maintenance

  • Fencing and infrastructure repairs and maintenance

  • Pasture monitoring and recording

  • Infrastructure planning and development

  • Livestock husbandry

  • Machinery operation

  • Weed management

Job Requirements

  • Good communication and organisational skills

  • Be a self-starter and confident working independently

  • Ability to confidently operate 2-wheel bikes and buggies

  • Willingness to use Low-stress stock handling (training provided)

  • Manual car license – essential

  • High level of attention to detail and strong work ethic

  • Be enthusiastic, respectful, trustworthy and reliable

  • Skills and accreditations from other industries considered favourable
