This hands-on role combines cattle handling, horse work, team leadership and feedlot operations, offering the opportunity to work with one of Australia’s most respected beef producers while building your skills in a supportive, safety-focused environment.
Goonoo Feedlot & Station is situated in the Central Highlands of Queensland, 65km southeast of Emerald, and is a specialised Wagyu feedlot & backgrounding operation, feeding 20,000 head of Wagyu cattle for both international and domestic markets.

This role is required to lead the livestock team with operational activities scheduled by the Livestock Manager.
Complete general cattle handling duties and ensure all animals are handled and treated as per the AACo policy on animal welfare.
Ride a horse through all pens daily to ensure all animals are in good health.
Identify animals that are unwell and move them to the hospital for treatment.
Induct livestock into the feedlot, including installing ear tags, administering injections, banding tails, and checking teeth and backlines.
Use a computer operating system to record all identification, including weight and treatment, for all cattle.
Assist with hospital treatment of all livestock.
Carry out all general feedlot duties, including maintenance of induction sheds and hospital facilities.
Occasional will be required to work overtime to cover any weekend gaps or unloading/loading any trucks out of hours.
Utilise machinery when required.
Support the livestock manager in running operational activities.
Mentor and support livestock team members with operational activities on a daily basis.
Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
Knowledge of cattle husbandry and skills in general cattle handling.
Basic level of horsemanship required.
Ability to adopt safe working practices.
Strong time management skills and work ethic.
Display a results-focused mindset and be a strong team player.
A positive frame of mind and an optimistic output is extremely desirable.
Strong safety mindset to drive safety and efficiency.
Previous experience leading a team.
