Job Description

Expressions of Interest are now open for LEADAg Pathways Certificate II in Rural Operations. 

Open to eligible school leavers and adults, currently residing in Queensland, looking to build a pathway into agriculture. 

Starting 23 November 2026, LEADAg Pathways is a six-month, employment-focused program designed to help people gain the practical skills, workplace experience and nationally recognised training needed to step confidently into the agricultural workforce.

If you’re looking to enter agriculture, change careers, return to the workforce or gain the practical experience needed to secure your first rural job, LEADAg Pathways could be for you.

You’ll work towards a nationally recognised Certificate II in Rural Operations through Martyr Training (RTO No. 31279) while gaining practical experience in real agricultural workplaces.

LEADAg Pathways will be delivered across Central and Western Queensland from 23 November 2026 to 24 May 2027.
 
Participants will need access to practical, on-property experience. This may be through their own property, a host property arranged with LEADAg support, or practical training weeks delivered as part of the program.

Key Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

Throughout the program, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Develop practical, job-ready rural skills

  • Gain hands-on experience in real agricultural workplaces

  • Learn from experienced producers and industry mentors

  • Complete theory and assessment requirements through a Registered Training Organisation

  • Build workplace confidence, communication and employability skills

  • Connect with agricultural businesses and industry networks

  • Explore different career pathways and employment opportunities

  • Develop the skills and experience employers are looking for.

The goal is simple: to help you become confident, capable and employment-ready for the agricultural industry.

Job Requirements

To be eligible for the LEADAg Pathways Program, participants must:

  • Be 15 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in school.

  • Be a permanent resident of Queensland.

  • Hold their own individual Green Medicare Card.

  • Not hold a Certificate IV or higher qualification completed within the past 10 years.

  • Not have previously participated in another Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) initiative.

This training is proudly funded by the Queensland Government through its Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.
